I write books about traditional know-how — gardening, cooking, plants, preserves. Not to resurrect a lost world, but because these gestures are useful, today, right now, in a real kitchen with a real garden.
It started with a garden that was too big and books that were too vague. I looked for precise answers — exactly when to sow, exactly how to take cuttings, exactly how much salt for lacto-fermentation — and I couldn't find them. Too much poetry, not enough method.
So I started writing things down. First for myself, in notebooks I kept in the kitchen and in the garden. Notes, tables, lists. What worked, what didn't, and why.

Those notebooks became books, published on Amazon KDP. And those books gave rise to this site — a place to keep sharing, updating, and answering the questions that books can't anticipate.
Paule's Notebooks don't sell a lifestyle. They pass on methods. The atmosphere is gentle, French, a little country house — because that's my world. But the content stays sharp: what works, how to do it, when to do it, and what's best avoided.
No miracles. No vague promises. Just gestures that have proven themselves, explained clearly.

A vague recipe is useless. A gardening guide without dates, the same. Everything here gives actionable information: quantities, temperatures, durations, conditions.
Only what's been tested
I only write about what I've practised myself, or verified from reliable sources. No inventions, no legends, no "they say that".
Simple, not simplistic
Old gestures aren't complicated — they're methodical. The goal is to make them accessible without hollowing out their substance.
